The Queen of the Night salutes you!
Coven of the Nightqueen was founded as Shadows of Chernobyl on the 46th of the year 75, in the city of Kiev, by Ganna Yermolenko. Though she would tragically die few years later, it was her who, moving to London, met Rhiannon Stark and the others who formed the band's original lineup. It was after the change in the band's name that it performed its first gigs, but for a long time it was more of a personal, unambitious music project - or, as Rhiannon likes to say, as an "unnofficial social club", as the members were all close friends. In those years, most of the original members left, with only Rhiannon and Laetitia Sanchez remaining - and they were the ones who revitalized the band, gathering new members and making plans to rise through the music charts.
The first tour (Years 89-90)
In the year 88, Coven of the Nightqueen had only played in a handful of European cities and Rio de Janeiro. In the first day of 89, however, the band started its first worldwide tour, beginning with London. While those first shows were well-rated, they were still far from stellar. It was in the middle of the tour (a period which the band rested so that Rhiannon and Xênia Nefertari could have their babies) that the band released its first single: To Valhalla's Gates, which sold well in Europe and made "Season of Eostre" the Coven's first hit. It was also during that tour break that Zilda Djanikian joined the band as keyboard player and second songwriter.
The second half of the tour took the band to southern and eastern Europe, ending with a very well-rated show in Kiev, the Coven's home city. After that, the band took another short break to record and release its first full-length album: Riders of the Sun. That very album - which was heavily influenced by the Mad Max series - established the band's style as one of storytelling, with each album having a central theme.
After the album's release, the Coven finally expanded its horizons beyond Europe, and played its first shows in Asia, Oceania and the Americas - with a great return to Rio de Janeiro. The third part of the tour was the longest, and its end was celebrated with the release of the Coven's second single: the hit Legend of the Tailed Beasts, prelude to the band's second full-length album, Chronicles of the Hurricane, which pays homage to the popular Japanese series Naruto.
At the end of its first world tour, Coven of the Nightqueen had already achieved a place amongst the top 400 Heavy Metals bands of the world, with shows rated a solid "wonderful"

The second tour (Years 90-91): Chronicles of the Hurricane and new heights
Between the first and second tours, the Coven took only a short break; as Rhiannon once said, "after being idle for so long, veterans like myself and Laetitia thought we just couldn't waste any more time pursuing our dreams of being a top band". And so the second tour started with a show in Glasgow - the largest one the coven had had until then -, following a route very similar to that of the previous one: beginning with Europe, then going to Asia through Turkey before going to Oceania and, finally, descending the Americas and returning to London.
The second tour (informally called "Shippuuden Tour") is solely based on the songs of the second (yet to be released) full-length album, Chronicles of the Hurricane. More singles were released along the tour: Valley of the End and Goddess of the Beginning, both succeeding Legend of the Tailed Beasts.
It was in the first half of that tour that the Coven broke the contract with its first recording studio, which had been inactive for weeks. Fearful of going through the same issue again, and wishing to organize the band's business more personally, Rhiannon founded Stark Winter Records. While it now supports various other bands, the company started as a platform for the Coven's future releases.
The Shippuuden Tour also marked new highs for the Coven, with their first-ever performance to be rated "perfect" (Porto, 50th of Y90) and their first gig attended by 10.000 people (Jakarta, 19th of Y91).
